The Swamp Fox Players in Georgetown presents Nunsense, directed by Karen Morello. The play follows the capers of the Order of the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they take over the church to hold a fundraising variety show to raise money to bury several sisters, who were accidentally poisoned by their cook. They must inter the nuns before the health inspector comes and finds the dead nuns in their freezer! Fraught with hilarity, both Catholic and otherwise, the audience watches as the nuns try to perform their planned performance amidst chaos and calamity. Clay Walker will be live at The Carolina Opry Theater on Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 7:00 PM. Tickets are on sale now. Featuring a cast of over 35 of the nation’s most talented performers, The Carolina Opry show spans all genres to bring you the best hits of yesterday and today. Join us for Moveable Feast, luncheons with exciting authors, artists, musicians and historians at area eateries.
The Moveable Feast, founded and managed by Linda Ketron, is now in its 29th year. Held at local restaurants weekly throughout the year on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when the presenter or the preferred venue is available, the presentation precedes the meal. For each Feast, the chef prepares a special menu. Food allergies are accommodated with advance notice; vegetarian option always available. Individuals, couples, friends, book clubs, and other small groups are assigned table seating. Although the per feast price has increased in response to increased food and labor costs at the restaurants, your gift certificates or unused three-fer credits will be honored. Power of the Purse is Black River United Way Women United’s signature women’s fundraiser supporting youth literacy advancement in Georgetown and Williamsburg counties.
The 2026 Power of the Purse Fundraising Luncheon promises to be an unforgettable experience. Guests will enjoy an elegant fine-dining lunch curated by The Southern Culinarian, setting the stage for an afternoon of connection, inspiration, and purpose. The event will also feature an engaging silent auction, a powerful women’s panel discussion, and a SURPRISE guest speaker whose story and message you won’t want to miss.
Power of the Purse is more than a luncheon—it’s a celebration of women changemakers coming together to amplify impact and show what is possible when we unite for good. This is your moment to be inspired, to connect, and to invest in meaningful change. We look forward to your presence and your generous financial commitment as we make an even greater impact together in 2026.
?**All Women United fundraising efforts support the Heroes for Literacy program helping kindergarten - 3rd grade Georgetown and Williamsburg county students achieve age- appropriate literacy. Our goal for 2026 is to support 40-60 students in our counties for literacy advancement.
